Please: come in out of the rain

Writing is communicating, whether it’s your academic thesis or a press release, an article, a love letter or dating profile. Your voice is heard in your admissions application or annual report, your website, speech, or business plan. The quality of your writing gives you credibility and rewards you with recognition, understanding, and attention. And if you’re writing something, unless it’s a personal journal, those things are the object of the endeavor. You have a message: give it impact.

Anyone can proofread your piece, but editing goes far beyond thrusting a semicolon into a run-on sentence. A good editor will make your work purposeful, addressing organization and content and style, to better communicate your effort. You’ve said what you wanted to say: have you said it well? Is it clear and organized and concise? Will your audience understand it and, of equal importance, sit back and say, “that’s a damned fine piece of writing?” Let me help you transform your work – whatever its purpose – from good to excellent, make it pop and shine and endure.

I offer a variety of levels of service for business, academic, and personal documents. Your words will be returned to you intact, if you wish, with editing suggestions you can reject or accept individually. I can detail the document and return it whole, changing nothing about your ideas and much about their presentation. If you have a publication with an established readership, I can operate as a retained proofing service. If you have something personal you want to say and can’t find the words, we’ll have a phone consultation and I’ll find them for you: I have lots of words. The services page will explain further; see rates for what it’ll cost.

Don’t get frustrated; I’m great at this.
I 'll make you look great, too.
